POLARITY OF WORLDS
The ongoing series Polarity of Worlds is a visual inspiration of infinite spheres – the connection between chemical, physical and biological processes that are part of our universe.
The photographs show extracellular deposits (biofilm) on naturally occurring and treated stone deposits. A constant supply of nutrient-rich water and oxygen causes the formation of layers by biological-chemical processes of unicellular or multicellular, aquatic, photoautotrophic organisms. In the course of their metabolic activity, these organisms release calcium carbonate which is deposited in the form of calcareous crusts of calcareous skeletons.
An ecosystem captured in close-up images that allows the transformation from microcosm to macrocosm, which showcases the effects of the heliospheric current layer that makes life possible.
Otherworldly colours, shapes and structures that bring a surreal world to the fore. That arouses curiosity and raises questions about the infinite vastness and origin of our universe.
